Why the App Instead of Cruise Control or Pedals?
Cruise control, pedal combinations, and similar built-in features don’t provide the same level of convenience as our app. While their main advantages are constant availability in the car and instant response (no connection needed), the app offers far more in terms of flexibility and ease of use.
Connection
- Connecting to the ELM327 device takes just 0.5–1 second, followed by another second to establish communication with the vehicle and load the available/activated modes. This only happens once when you start your drive.
- Once connected, switching modes is lightning-fast—under a second—including deactivating the anti-theft system. Our system uses an 8-digit hexadecimal code (0-9, A-F), providing 4,294,967,296 unique combinations (from 00000000 to FFFFFFFF). With built-in brute-force protection, cracking it in a reasonable timeframe (like months) is practically impossible. Entering codes via cruise control or pedals takes much longer and risks errors. In the app, codes are entered automatically, even across multiple vehicles running our Multimap firmware.
- Many modes can be toggled while driving, which is often impossible or unsafe with pedals or cruise control in most cars.
Availability
The ELM327 adapter can stay plugged into the OBD-II port indefinitely, as most models enter sleep mode when there’s no CAN bus activity, avoiding any battery drain.
What if your phone’s battery dies? Well, what if your cruise control or brake pedal fails? You can easily charge your phone or switch to another device, like a tablet or even a MacBook. In contrast, a failed cruise control or pedal system often means calling a tow truck, especially if the anti-theft mode is engaged.
Usability
More than 10 out of the 29 modes can be active at the same time.
It’s impossible to do this properly using cruise control or the accelerator/brake pedals and have it accurately reflected by the tachometer needle or any other factory-installed gauge.
Flashing the Check Engine or EPC light is even worse:
- If it blinks every 0.5 seconds, showing mode 5 takes 2.5 seconds of counting.
- You still have to remember what mode 5 actually does.
- On some cars, when the check engine light starts flashing, the error code gets stored in the dashboard
The app solves everything instantly: You clearly see exactly which modes (not just one — multiple) are active right now.
And currently, we’re the only ones who let you combine modes at all.
A nice bonus of the app is its ability to read, save, and erase fault codes.
We regularly release free app updates. The app is very user-friendly, and no one has had any questions about how to use it.
